Andrew Snowden, MP for Fylde has been on patrol with the new Rural Crime Task Force, a dedicated unit he funded to combat rural crime during his tenure as Police and Crime Commissioner for Lancashire. The visit saw him meet with with local farmers and landowners across the Fylde area to discuss the impact the unit is having on rural communities.
The Rural Crime Task Force was set up to tackle the unique challenges faced by rural areas across Fylde including livestock theft, equipment theft, fly-tipping, and wildlife crimes. With specialist training, the team works closely with farmers, rural businesses, and local communities to prevent crime and address concerns. Their presence is part of a wider strategy to make rural areas safer, ensuring that communities feel protected and supported.
Commenting on the patrol, Andrew Snowden MP said:
"It was a privilege to be back out on the ground with Officers from our Rural Crime Task Force, visiting farms and hearing first-hand the positive impact the unit is having. Rural crime can be devastating for local farmers and businesses, and it is essential that we have a dedicated team working with the community to tackle these issues. This is exactly why I funded the unit during my time as Police and Crime Commissioner, and it is great to see the progress they are making."
The Task Force continues to build strong relationships with rural communities across Fylde, working in partnership with local authorities and community groups to ensure that rural crime remains a priority. The unit also provides valuable crime prevention advice and helps to coordinate local watch schemes.
Andrew added,
"Our rural communities are an integral part of Fylde, and it's crucial that we support them in every way possible. I will continue to champion their needs in Parliament, and I am proud to see the Task Force is out and about making a real difference on the ground.”
